Århus Sinfonietta will be performing my works SNAP! and Swinging at Aarhus Jazz Festival (Hotel Carmel, July 21 15:00) and Djurs & Mols (Kulturministeriet, Ebeltoft, July 27 15:00). I am very much looking forward to the performance which features a revised edition of Swinging, alongside new compositions by Julie Kjær and Lil Lacy. This week I had the first rehearsal with my new Gorm Askjær Trio with Jens Mikkel Madsen (b) and Thomas Eiler (dr). It’s been some time since I’ve performed my own music in this format, and so far it is looking (and sounding) promising ;-)
Now you can watch a small video from my project The Story of A Building: Vandtårnet here on the page. It was a fun and rewarding collaboration with dancer Pernille Sørensen working with the physical space and stories surrounding The Old Watertower at Randervej in Aarhus. Hope to make more like this in the future.
I’ve been quiet in here for a while, in part because of the new project I’ve been working on. But now it is finally here, and I am thrilled to perform The Story Of A Building: Vandtårnet on Sunday in collaboration with dancer Pernille Malou Konzack Sørensen. Time for shouting! Having a great time conducting a small piece for shouting choir, that I composed. It is a part of FRAGT! by Aarhus Teater - a play that is taking place at Aarhus harbour. It is loudly performed by Råbekoret Tinnitus. The play premieres the 17th of August with 9 performances until the 27th. It’s sold out, so I hope you already bought you ticket ;-) We’re very excited and getting...
I made a video with excerpts from the live session at Non-Space, Aarhus, with Gorm Askjær Secret Safari. You can find it under Bands - Leader and Composer. Hope you enjoy!
Welcome to 2017, which looks to be an exciting year. Working on different projects, no confirmed bookings yet, but will update when that happens.
Thank you to the great crowd who found their way to Non-Space yesterday for the Secret Safari concert. And thanks to Kasper, Christian, Thomas and Morten for their contribution to the music. This will not be the last time for this band. Last night also contained a great solo piano and visuals experience by Simon Gorm Eskildsen.
Had a great rehearsal of the new material today. It's going down exactly one week from now @ Non-Space, Rosensgade 11, Aarhus.
